This particular set of blog posts are probably getting a little boring for most people (myself included). But the fact remains that I would like you to start asking me tough questions if ever I stop posting on the topic. The point of these posts is to put my current weight loss status out there in the open and, in a sense, ‘shame’ myself into not giving up.

[I have known Phillip (twitter) for a long while, we used to work together and now we attend the same Church (Phill is my community group leader). Phil is one of the reasons I started this blog. He blogs his passion for video over here on Synaptic Light. Phil's other blog, Son of Mine, is about another passion in his life, Stephen. The theme of my blog runs a very similar course to Son of Mine so Phil and I thought a cross post would be in order. Here is Phillip's post on my blog and here is my post on his. Enjoy]
I heard this story from my wife; Kathy, who was walking to the shops with Stephen our almost 20 month old son. It illustrates the wonder that kids find in this world – that possibly we take for granted. Here we go (with a lot of poetic license) …
Leaving the pram behind, Kathy and Stephen decided to walk the short distance to the shops in order to return a video that we had watched; “The Day the Earth stood still”. Actually, although I can vouch for the fact that Kathy was in full control, I am sure that Stephen was probably making all the calls along the way, many a parent will be nodding their heads at about this point, he he he.

Every now and then you have to build stuff for your kids. The other day I had to build a chair. Marla and I (well Marla mainly) wanted to get a reclining chair for Alicia. Something that she could sit comfortably in while we got on with things around the house.

I think last week I said 107kg’s. A sharp eye would have notices that the graph said 107.5 which is in fact where it was.
I have been dreading writing this post for the past few days. All indications where that I would have to report on the first gain in weight since I started this journey. I had even written the post in my head already, I had framed the paragraphs in which I waxed lyrically on about putting on weight, but in a way that could make the whole thing sound beautiful. I weighed myself last night and that just confirmed my suspicions.

Last night (or this morning rather) at 02:30 Marla came back to bed after settling Alicia. I was in the bathroom and heard when Marla turned the receiver of the baby monitor on (we leave it off when someone is actually with Alicia).
As soon as she turned it on I heard it crackle to life and emit the dreaded sound of a babies crying follows quickly but a very frustrated Marla using words that are not quotable here 
. The strange thing was that I heard nothing coming from Alica’s room. Now you have to understand that the bathroom is closer to Alicia’s room that our bedroom. So it was very weird that I could hear Alicia crying via the monitor and not via the bedroom door.

I can remember the exact setting place and time (but not the date) that Dad gave me the sex talk. He packed the two of us off for a father and son day hiking in the hills. I was so not expecting ‘the talk’ and Dad was obviously dreading it as well. we got well into the walk before he said anything. It was quite awkward . My Dad is one of the wisest people I know, but this talk was not an easy one for him.

I like superheroes. It might be a geek thing, or just the fact that a part of me has never really grown up, but superheroes are cool.
